HEALTHY SNACK

LEVEL : Form 2

TIME : 30 minutes.

AIMS : To find information in a website; to practise the usage of transitional

words using any two of the recipes on making healthy doughnuts.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
One computer per group of 3 students with an Internet connection and a Web Browser.

PREPARATION:

1. Locate sites which only had been linked by the instructor on making healthy snack; doughnuts.
2. Using the information in the second website, prepare a worksheet which consists of comprehension questions.
3. Using the third and fourth websites to prepare one simple composition sample using transitional words as language content.

PROCEDURE:

1. Ask the students about their favourite snacks and list them on the board. Ask them their opinions whether the snacks are considered as healthy food.
2. Instruct the students to locate the first site which already linked to each computer. Ask their views on doughnuts whether it is healthy snack.
3. Tell the students that there are ways to still enjoy eating snack like doughnuts healthily. They need to refer to the next three websites to know the recipes of healthy doughnuts.
4. Get the students to immediately move on to the second website and asks them to read the doughnuts making article in 5 minutes duration.
5. Give them the worksheet prepared. Tell the students the answers are available in the same website they have read.
6. Check the answers by asking students randomly to write it on the board. Make sure the answers need to be corrected if they write the wrong one. Make sure the students browse the site and write down their answers before giving them the correct answers.
7. Give the last activity’s instruction clearly in order to avoid confusion and too many repetitions. Ask the students to pay attention to a sample of composition written by the teacher which emphasized on transitional words.
8. Give examples of some transitional words on the board and ask the students to choose any ONE of the two websites and write down a composition using transitional words based on the healthy doughnut recipe. The students can refer to the board or the projection/OHP for teacher’s sample.
9. The students need to write the composition in the class using English 1 exercise book and underlined each transition words.
10. The students need to submit their work by the end of the class.
